A quick pencil sketch for a picture book idea. Unfortunately, it involves drawing cows--which isn't exactly my strong point. I have two plastic cows living on my desk, recruited from the toy box to serve as models. (I recently told someone that my current life goal is to learn to draw cows. They gave me a funny look--I can't imagine why! What's wrong with that life goal?) ;)

Beautifully done!
ReplyDeletethis is excellent - the whole thing.
ReplyDeleteI love the mix of drawing and photography - the quality of that illustration is excellent to come up on a camera that well.
great work
It's a beautiful sketch! As far as cows are concerned-- Not long ago I tried drawing one for the first time and ended up doing a whole series on cows! They sort of grow on you.
ReplyDeleteWow, that's perfection. Great energy and movement. Love it.
ReplyDeleteha ha ha, we all have our goals! keep us posted on your cows! :)
ReplyDeleteWell, this is just adorable - everything from the clogs, to the scarf around her flowing hair! xxoo
Very nice! Drawing cows sounds like a great goal :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful movement in this sketch. Lively, energetic and whistful. I love your goal and have no doubt you will succeed. When I draw animals I look for the simpliest shapes first and build up from there: cow = series of ovals/body, circles/head, rectangles/legs, triangles/ears+horns...I look forward to following your blog and so admire your work.
ReplyDeleteGreat drawing!
ReplyDeleteooooh, I love drawing cows, I thinks it's a great goal, and I love this drawing too!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love the style, the details, the movement!! Reminiscent of Jan Brett. Looking forward to the book. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you all! Thanks, Jennifer, for the tips. I just need to practice more until I totally understand the shapes and how they all go together. :) Kristin--I love Jan Brett; I wish I could draw animals like she can!
